Sa'eed Ibn Zaid 'Amr Ibn Nufayl (May Allah be pleased with him)

Sa'eed ibn Zaid ibn 'Amr ibn Nufayl is also one of the ten companions given glad tidings of Paradise during his lifetime. He was the cousin of 'Umar ibn Al-Khattaab yet Sa'eed and his wife Faatima bint Al-Khattaab ('Umar's sister) embraced Islam before 'Umar and she was the one who invited 'Umar to Islam!

Sa'eed was amongst the first companions to immigrate (to Medina) however he did not fight in the Battle of Badr because he was in Syria at the time but he fought alongside the Prophet peace be upon him in all of the battles after that. Sa'eed (May Allah be pleased with him) was also of those who Allah would answer his Du'a.

THE VIRTUES OF SA'EED IBN ZAID 'AMR IBN NUFAYL(May Allah be pleased with him)

In a hadith narrated by Abd-ur-Rahmaan ibn 'Auf who said that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said:

"Abu Bakr is in Paradise, and 'Umar is in Paradise, and 'Uthmaan is in Paradise, and 'Ali is in Paradise, and Talha is in Paradise, and Az-Zubair is in Paradise, and Abd-ur-Rahmaan ibn 'Auf is in Paradise, and Sa'eed ibn Abee Waqqaas is in Paradise, and Sa'eed ibn Zaid is in Paradise, and Abu 'Ubaidah ibn Al-Jarraah is in Paradise."

In addition to being from the ten companions that were given the glad tidings of Paradise during their lifetimes he was also from amongst those who the Prophet peace be upon him was pleased with when he died. And 'Umar ibn Al-Khattaab (May Allah be pleased with him) did not mention Sa'eed as a candidate for leadership of the Muslim nation after his death because of the close family ties between them just as he excluded his own son Abd-Allah from the candidacy.
