Women Companions of the Prophet The Prophet Muhammad. was sent as a mercy for all creation (21:107) and he treated everybody with kindness and affection. No one was deprived of his universal love and compassion and women had a fair share of his mercy and affection. He did not distinguish between men and women and treated them both alike in all matters of life. He paid as much attention to the education of women as to that of men and even developed a close relationship with many women. And his treatment of people, men and women, in general, clearly indicates that, in his sight, men and women were equal in every respect - equal members of society, each contributing to its growth, prosperity and enrichment in their own sphere and in their own way, neither being superior or inferior to the other.
He freely met women as he met men in order to teach them the wisdom and philosophy of Al-Din by his own example and practice and in this respect made no distinction between them. We give below an account of the famous women Companions who had a very close relation with the Prophet on a personal level and whom the Prophet often visited in their homes.
